Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano will smash all sorts of records when they step into the ring in Texas on Friday night.
The YouTuber-turned boxer's bout with heavyweight legend Tyson, who is 31 years older than him, has been ridiculed by many within boxing, but the 27-year-old has defended the event, which is expected to be attended by around 70,000 people. The event is being shown live on Netflix worldwide, meaning 282million subscribers will have access to Taylor's fight, which is expected to start around 3am Irish time.
“I think for every single fighter, we're always prepared for moments like that," said Taylor. "That's why we train so hard. When you're in shape, when you're fit, you recover so well from those moments. And I take a lot of reassurance and a lot of confidence from that because I took her biggest shots and I wasn't moved. I won the second half of that fight. So I take a lot of reassurance going into the rematch because of that.
Nicola McGeady of Ladbrokes commented: “Katie Taylor is already a history maker in women’s boxing, and this will cement her as a legend. Punters are backing her but the market shows that there is little to split the two.”
