REUTERS: More than 200 U.S. companies, including Amazon , Alphabet Inc's Google , and Bank of America , on Tuesday urged the U.S. Supreme Court to rule that federal civil rights law prohibits discrimination against gay and transgender workers.
In their brief, the companies said the existing patchwork of state and local laws banning bias against gay and transgender workers harms businesses' ability to recruit and retain top talent and"generate innovative ideas by drawing on a greater breadth of perspective."Other companies that signed onto the brief include Apple Inc , Facebook Inc , Microsoft Corp , Nike Inc , Uber Technologies Inc , and Citigroup Inc .
