The DOJ just gave a green light to the $26 billion merger of T-Mobile and Sprint. Critics say the decision will lead to higher prices for wireless customers — while raising questions about the Trump admin's commitment to antitrust enforcement

Asked about the decision to clear the T-Mobile-Sprint deal despite moving to block the AT&T-Time Warner merger, Delrahim attributed the attempted lawsuit to AT&T's resistance to offering up concessions in a settlement with the DOJ. "Here the parties decide to engage in the settlement discussion to address the harms," Delrahim said of the T-Mobile deal. "Had they not, we would’ve litigated. But that is the difference.

Pai, cheering the settlement and final structure of the deal in a statement Friday, said he plans to soon circulate an order to his fellow commissioners officially signing off on the merger. He already secured the support of the FCC's two other GOP commissioners when he announced his recommendation, meaning the agency will almost certainly vote through the approval order even if the Democratic minority objects.

SprintSucks

But Sprint sucks. Does that mean they'll get better or that T-Mobile will embrace the suck?

It’s almost like the Supreme Court is - wait for it - just an offshoot of the Republican Party!

I wish the DOJ would green light the ATT network to work properly in North Texas...it’s horrible. Plus, the customer service has fallen off a cliff since they got with DIRECTV

Why do we even have antitrust ridiculous

That's a good news from the perspective of developing 5G over 2.6Ghz, I'm eager to see how would Apple react to this merger and whether they will consider this band in the first batches of their 5G devices.

What a coincidence after T Mobile spent over $100,000 at Trump hotels

This is actually great news for competitions and prices will come down. T-Mobile is more innovative and nimble that Verizon and AT&T

Actually this will keep Sprint alive and give a stronger competitor the ability to challenge Verizon and AT&T.

Justice Department in Talks With States to Win Support for T-Mobile, Sprint MergerThe Justice Department is pushing state officials to support a planned settlement that would allow T-Mobile US and Sprint to merge by selling assets to Dish Network. This to me seems like something the DOJ isn’t supposed to be used for 🤷🏾‍♂️ CGasparino budswdrbobbillw The DOJ should not be negotiating on behalf of Corporations, this is wrong. They should not merge. No more monopolies.
