The government set up the Cost of Insurance Working Group in July 2016 to try to develop proposals that would bring down the price for consumers. Insurance Ireland replied it would be “difficult to persuade insurers to expand their risk appetite”. The government said that its hands were tied with limited options to offer relief to such companies affected.
