Atlassian has committed to a net zero carbon emissions target by 2050, with co-founder Michael Cannon-Brookes calling on the Federal Government to make it easier for businesses to take action on climate change.

Atlassian co-founder Mike Cannon-Brookes believes the move will be good for profitability in the long termAttending the United Nations Climate Action Summit this week in New York, Mr Cannon-Brookes told 7.30 that Australian businesses craved"long-term government policy".

"We don't have a credible climate or energy policy in Australia at the moment," Mr Cannon-Brookes said."I think the Government should firstly set concrete targets, both for renewable energy by 2035, and secondly, to how we're going to get to a net zero carbon economy by 2050."

Reality bites. Zero emissions isn't as easy as it sounds is it? Thanks Mike Cannon-Brookes for setting the record straight

This guy owns the most expensive house in the country. 100 million dollars. just to put things in perspective. He could plant a lot of trees if carbon interested him. I smell free promotion...and I thought the ABC runs no advertising.

Why?

By 2050? Do it by 2025 or you are full of 💩. By the middle of this century all major economies will be running fusion reactors and the entire global energy budget will be negative emissions as we draw down CO2 for use in synthetic fuels. 🙄

Economic colonialism - they rape and pillage, make their billions using EVERY means possible then depart and leave the mess to others. Atlassian is what 15yrs old but need 30 yrs to clean up its nest. My god they did good pillaging HYPOCRISY at its best

30 years!!! 😂. What is wrong with the ABC.. this isn’t impressive in the slightest.. 30 years!!! 🤣

I thought it was 2090 ? but you're saying it's 2050 31 years from now! woaaaah

hmmm, tech company, 30 years from now... I am presuming no emissions because they won't be around

Err, 30 years from now. 30. Years. I guess it sounds like you care if no-one stops to consider the time frame.

Why? When we are C02 ,fossil fuels are organic. The earth thrives on C02 and without it we die

Anything for a free plug on a tax payer funded broadcaster! Defund

More corporate millennial bullsh1t?

Interesting, I wonder how they will power their data centers post 2050 at night time when the wind isn't blowing?

'Net zero emissions' is the same as Elton John flying around in private jets but donating money to a carbon foundation to offset his footprint. Worthless.

Too bad folks the world ends in less than 12 years, the lies from the Left-Turds is vomit worthy.

Will still be around?

Huh ? whats this 😅😂🤣.

And that’s if they even around by then.

Technocrats virtue signaling, whilst using mined resources.

He was very impressive on ABC730. Knows where he is heading and why. Able to explain clearly why it matters, why it's good for everyone and why it's good for his shareholders. Can the coal huggers do the same? Of course not. Emotional waffle will never trump calm logic.

Does this company pay any tax in aus? PrueBardsley had a quick look online, not too sure.
