Microsoft granted license to export 'mass market' software to Huawei - Business Insider

Microsoft is one of the few US firms which is permitted to do business with Huawei, which has been blacklisted by the Trump administration since May.The US has granted Huawei a reprieve on a full trade ban until February, to give rural networks time to move their mobile network kit away from the Chinese provider."On November 20, the US Department of Commerce granted Microsoft's request for a license to export mass-market software to Huawei.

On Wednesday, a US official said it had received roughly 300 license requests, about half of which had been processed. Roughly half of those – or one quarter of the total – had been approved and the rest denied. Dan Ives, an analyst with Wedbush Securities, said the license was most likely for the company's Windows operating system.
