26 injured in Durban taxis collision

Twenty-six people have been injured in a collision between two taxis on the corner of Stalwart Simelane and Somsteu roads in the Durban CBD.

One of the injured had to be freed with the jaw of life from the wreckage. A stationary vehicle was also damaged in the crash. “Rescue Care paramedics were called to a serious accident involving two taxis and one light motor vehicle. On arrival, paramedics found that the two taxis had collided before the taxi had overturned coming to rest on its side. A stationary vehicle at the robot was also involved in the collision.

“A total of 26 people had sustained various injuries and were stabilised on the scene by advanced life support paramedics before being transported to various different hospitals for the further care that they require,” says Spokesperson for Rescue Care, Garrith Jamieson.
