Tasmania’s tourism sector is crying out for support after almost a year shut off from most of Australia's mainland and the world. The Apple Isle relies heavily on tourism with the industry making up 17 per cent of the state’s jobs and bringing in $2.5 billion a year pre-COVID. Pennicott Wilderness Journeys showcase the best of Tasmania and Victoria’s breathtaking scenery, but the company’s fleet of boats were out of action for three months last year. “We lost about 10 staff because of COVID,” Rob Pennicott told Sky News. “On all of our products we’re down 41 per cent but we’re still heading the right way so we’re a lot better off than a lot of people”.
