... [+]Tourism aid in France has cost €26 billion since the start of the Covid-19 crisis. Secretary of State for Tourism Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne divulged the figureThe nation is currently experiencing its 3rd lockdown as the government is betting that by sacrificing the Easter holidays it can save the summer vacation period. That lockdown is slowly ending as the government develops plans for potentially letting bars and restaurants begin opening sometime in May.
"I want to pay tribute to tourism professionals for their great responsibility and resilience," added Lemoyne on Twitter. "The spring break will not be a vacation like the others: We will continue these devices because it is the condition to keep talent, keep skills and be able to bounce back when the time comes," he said on BFMTV.
Whether that 4-week lockdown has been enough to stem the rapid spread of Covid variants remains to be seen. But the government is eager to help its critical tourism industry get back on its feet.
Good... thats what the money is for... isn't it... tough times
On my way to the store 😊
