One month deferment of no-alcohol sale rule not a boon, business owners tell DBKL

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 3 — Kuala Lumpur City Hall’s latest announcement that the ban on sale of alcohol by grocery and convenience stores as well as Chinese medicine halls will now start on October 31 instead of October 1 was met with indifference by the affected store owners.

“I don’t sell. The licence is very expensive. It’s over RM400 for one year. I chose not to sell as the licence is expensive.” Ng Chee Yat, 65, said flip-flop policies are very disruptive for business. — Picture by Shafwan Zaidon Beverages containing alcohol are placed in a separate shelf away from other regular drinks at Kedai Runcit, Ubat dan Arak Yee Hong in Sentul. — Picture by Firdaus Latif

Beer will still be allowed to be sold although only between 7am to 9pm, and placed away from other beverages. Cheung, owner of Kedai Runcit, Ubat dan Arak Yee Hong, speaks to Malay Mail during an interview in Sentul. — Picture by Firdaus Latif

The man on the street can easily see the folly & unfairness of PN policies. Just waiting for all this to backfire against this incompetent & hypocritical government!
