A construction firm Dutum Construction Company Ltd has launched a capacity development initiative to promote knowledge sharing in Nigeria’s construction industry. The capacity initiative called the Dutum Internship Academy Program is designed to produce skilled professionals in a wide range of departments connected to the construction industry.

Successful intakes to the programme will work with professionals in Civil and Structural Engineering, Architecture, Mechanical & Electrical Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Business Administration, Finance, Human Resources, Marketing and IT to have hands-on knowledge of the workings of the construction industry.

“We have seen how knowledge sharing and capacity development initiatives in Tech are helping to create a culture of excellence; our goal is to replicate this in the construction industry,” Runsewe said. Also, at the event, the Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige, noted that bridging the skills gap has become a cause of concern to the government because skills mismatch was a significant cause of the employment crisis in the country.
