The inflexibility and hard thresholds make it incredibly difficult for people in need to access these things and then get gradually taken off.
Even if they did qualify it will be 10 years or more before this family could even get a subsidized unit so either way they are screwed along with thousands and thousands of people
I have to sell my rentals because the rents are too low to carry the financing and rising cost of expenses. I think the tenants would rather stay and pay more. First time buyers will want possession. The Landlord Tenant laws are broken.
We were lucky in TO. Manulife owned The Cloisters in Don Mills at Lawrence & Din Valley. Townhomes were for families and when the children left, you were on a priority list for an apartment in one of two buildings in the complex. RentControl was in place.
