The main reason to the failure of new iPhones in China is the design and marketing strategy. The xs max is too big too heavy and too expensive. Xs has not much difference vs x, which has been sold a lot in China. Xr is a total failure, even teenagers don’t want one.

Even before trade war, apple has been losing its market share and advantage to xiaomi,huawei,vivo in both price and techs. This is happening not just in China whose total market is shrinking, but in many places like Europe, Asia and Africa. Cook should blame himself.
