Launched in November 2022, ChatGPT has gained popularity among millions of users as a place to ask questions. ChatGPT offers responses in a conversational style, as opposed to search engines that return pages of results, making it more straightforward for users to ask follow-up questions. The sudden popularity of ChatGPT has caused Google’s top executives to reassess their priorities and shift their attention to AI products.
Google’s lucrative search engine, which returns search results, is critical to the company’s business strategy. Most of the company’s income comes from advertising charges for listing goods and services next to search results. Google’s revenue in 2021 was over $250 billion, its highest level in the company’s nearly 25-year history.
With the launch of ChatGPT, however, the Gmail maestro thinks Google’s search engine may experience a crisis as users turn to simple solutions rather than indexed pages. Even if Google were to launch internal AI products right away, according to Paul Buchheit, it would be impossible to do so without jeopardizing its primary source of income.with ChatGPT’s creator in an effort to integrate the chatbot’s capabilities into its own search engine and overtake Google as the market leader.
The rapid development of ChatGPT and Microsoft’s backing raises the possibility that AI will have a significant influence on the direction of search engines in the future.
GOOD!
He needs to stop thinking. 🤯
At the speed ChatGPT is going woke, we will forget about it in a month.
losing 'control' ?
There's a positive thought.
Communism is what this guy represents.
Maybe. Maybe not. May I don't trust the superiority of AI. Just like fake flowers.
Let’s hope so
Chat GPT already has cancer
Google you deserve it and we don't feel sorry for any of you. Karma is a bitch.
Can you search images on ChatGPT like you can Google?
The funny thing is, I'm looking at AcumosAI. It's over on GitHub. It runs on Linux Open Source. It ain't Rocket Surgery. Linux is the language of the Web3 Blockchain and all Free. And Gmail sucks, I like Proton. The Web3 is 'self-serving'.
But isn’t OpenAI’s ChatGPT going to cost $40 a month to use? I’m not paying that
We need a search engine upgrade. Right now we're experiencing internet search downgrade, with drastically fewer and much less diversified results.
Good...Gaagle is an evil entity .....
That’s his guess That’s his guess That’s his guess
Yup. And Google is accelerating the digging of its own grave with censorship.
feel good story
It's not a takeover, it's a transition!
Good.... Google is evil.... But we can't let this 'ChatGPT' thing become the new and worse monopoly. Variety and competition is the key.
Hope so.. Google needs to die it does not have humanities best interests at heart
Not bad then.
Competition is GREAT! It inspires creativity, innovation, and advancement. GO CAPITALISM! :-)
We can only hope. May it also take down YouTube as well.
“Cnn business’s” youtube channel did not upload a video of a “vote hacking conference” in August 2017 and say that the voting machines are easily hackable and interview a guy in an Antifa shirt
The world would be better off without Google
Gmail is going the way of Hotmail? Time to make the move to ProtonMail.
Good Sounds like it really IS an artificial 'intelligence'.
Maybe if it starts attributing the sources it utilizes to generate its output.
Google didn't invent gmail, they purchased it, and it has gone down hill ever since, to the point where it is basically unusable now.
They probably don't even have that long. After playing with ChatGPT for a while, it's pretty easy to see why it's going to kill their search business.
