City Futsal is the redeveloped Dallas Farmers Market’s tucked-away draw

. The fields are sized for futsal, a 5-on-5 player version created in South America to fit into urban settings.

By August 2020, City Futsal’s business took off as indoor sports were shut down and people gravitated to open spaces. The smaller court, often played indoors, fosters a fast-paced, intense game with more chances to score goals. The name futsal comes from Portuguese and Spanish words for indoor football.

Father Federico “Fede” Mariel is business development director and his wife and mother of their six adult children, Solange Maria Mariel, has helped with the business over the years, most recently as social media creator. In 2020, she returned to her passion as a visual artist.
