Medical experts have said pairing the medications with a science-backed lifestyle modification program can help with long-term weight management.
“WeightWatchers’ nutrition and behavior-change program can provide the support needed to help people build livable healthy habits for the long term and manage the dietary-induced side effects often felt while taking chronic weight management medications, such as glucagon-like peptide-1s ,” Dr. Gary Foster, chief scientific officer of WeightWatchers, said.
WeightWatchers will pay $106 million to acquire Sequence. The move will give WeightWatchers a foothold into the growing prescription drug market for addressing obesity and other weight conditions.
