Fire breaks out at Alaba market in Lagos | Mob 'turns back' firefighters | TheCable

Adeseye Margaret, director, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, said the incident took place Friday afternoon.The fire service director said an angry mob prevented the firefighters from gaining access to the affected areas to quell the inferno.Margaret added that the agency was collaborating with the security operatives to address the situation.

“Report reaching Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service indicates shops at the popular Alaba International Market, Ojo, Lagos are on fire,” the statement reads.“However, Fire Crew from Ojo, Sari-Iganmu and Ajegunle are being turned back by angry mobs from performing their statutory duty but presently on standby.
