Jodie Langsford launches petition after her father's body deteriorates at funeral directors, demanding greater regulation of the funeral industry. Over 50,000 signatures collected so far.

A grieving daughter could not bear to say a last goodbye to her beloved dad because of the condition of his body at a funeral directors.

She said his funeral was delayed but for a shortage of cars available to Central Co-op funeral directors. A spokesman said it was committed to providing the "highest standards of care" and has been in touch with the grieving daughter. "The smell of death and decay was overpowering and intense. Dad was on a gurney covered with a sheet with a blood smear across his face, stretching from one cheek to the other. To me this appeared as a scratch and the image of dad in that state is something that will never leave me.

"My mum then got a call to say he was being moved earlier to Kingstanding. That was on May 24. She was told no-one could see dad as he had deteriorated too much, that embalming didn't always work and the body bag had to be sealed. She said: "I feel haunted. It's forced me into a world I never wanted to be part of. We don't want Co-op to forget dad's name and by putting regulation in place we believe it will change things.
