ST. ANNS, N.S. — Three Cape Breton music greats — John Allan Cameron, Winston Fitzgerald and Joella Foulds — will be honoured as inductees into the 2024 Cape Breton Music Industry Hall of Fame.

Cameron, dubbed ‘the Godfather of Celtic music,’ was born in Inverness County in late 1938 and is considered a trailblazer for fellow Cape Bretoners Natalie MacMaster, Ashley MacIsaac, The Barra MacNeils and The Rankins. He died in November 2006 at the age of 67. “His recording of “McNabb's Hornpipe and Farmer's Daughter,” on one of his four LPs for Celtic, is considered a Canadian fiddling classic. Fitzgerald also toured with Hank Snow and performed with the Cape Breton Symphony on John Allan Cameron’s national weekly television show,” the release said.

Originally from B.C. and raised in Manitoba, Foulds moved to Cape Breton with her husband, Jim, in November 1977. Since that time, she has had a distinguished and varied career as a journalist, musician, songwriter, community volunteer and actor.
