The nutrition department will also be highlighting the efforts of the district’s Farm to School Committee, which is promoting the initiative at different schools.So far, Dentzler students and cafeteria staff have diverted more than 10,000 pounds of food from landfills and back into soil. “Previously, the PTA did a lot of work with it but we kind of brought it back to life this summer. We’ve been harvesting tomatoes out of it. We’re then using those tomatoes on our homemade pizzas at our secondary schools.”
