Commercial Street in Nanaimo is blocked off for construction, which business owners fear may be delayed.
“As soon as the fence and all the temporary construction fences went up our sales have dropped dramatically and unfortunately, we’ve had a really rough year already,” said Leon Drzewiecki, owner of NY LA Threads, a men’s clothing store.
The head of the Downtown Nanaimo Business Association says it’s better for the coal-related cavity to surface now than after the project on Commercial Street is done.
