Eastern Cape Transport and Community Safety MEC Xolile Nqatha has advised the taxi industry to dissolve the provincial SANTACO executive structure within seven days.
This is part of implementing the recommendations of the Taxi Mediation Panel to end violence in the industry. The MEC’s spokesperson Makhaya Komisa says it’s part of bringing stability to the industry. “MEC Nqatha is gratified by the response of the industry on his advice. The MEC is of the fair view that this process is part of the peace accord assigned by the leaders of the industry and the department to end violence in the industry.”
SANTACO Eastern Cape Chairperson Bishop Yolelo says they will wait for guidelines from national office.
