Femi Soneye, the spokesperson for the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), refutes claims by analyst Farooq Kperogi that President Bola Tinubu influences the company's operations, including recruitment and appointments. Soneye states that decisions at the NNPCL are based on merit, business requirements, and expertise, not ethnicity, tribe, religion, or political affiliation.

President Bola Tinubu does not interfere with operations, including recruitment, promotions, appointment among others, at the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited , the spokesperson for the company, Femi Soneye has said.

Reacting to the piece written by Kperogi and titled, “Tinubu’s Buharisation of the NNPC”, the company spokesperson said decisions within the NNPCL are guided by merit, business requirements, and expertise.”
