A company maintenance owner in Teluk Intan was charged with using forged electronic fire extinguisher inspection system (eFEIS) certificates. He pleaded not guilty to all four charges.

A company maintenance owner was brought before the Magistrate Court here today on four charges of using forged electronic fire extinguisher inspection system (eFEIS) certificates for fire extinguishers, last week. The accused, Sha Arifin Mohammad Jamal, 34, however pleaded not guilty after all the charges against him were read out before Magistrate Naidatul Athirah Azman.

According to charges one to four, the man was accused of fraudulently using as genuine a document, namely the eFEIS certificate with a different serial number, where the accused had the reason that the document was false. The three offences were committed at a restaurant in Lorong Lagenda 8, Medaniaga Lagenda, Hutan Melintang at 3.42 pm on December 31, 2024, while another offence was detected at 1.45 pm in Lorong Lagenda 1 on the same date. For all four charges, the father of a child was charged under Section 471 of the Penal Code and can be punished under Section 465 of the same code, which provides a sentence of up to two years imprisonment or a fine or both, if found guilty. The prosecution was handled by Deputy Public Prosecutor, Izzuddin Fakri Hamdan, while the man was represented by a lawyer from the National Legal Aid Foundation (YBGK), M. Saravanan. Earlier, Izzuddin Fakri suggested a bail of RM10,000 be imposed on the accused for three charges, while RM6,000 for the fourth charge. However, Saravanan pleaded for the bail amount to be reduced on the grounds that it was beyond the accused's means, who worked alone and supported his family with a non-working wife. The court then allowed the accused to be bailed at RM10,000 for all charges and set February 12 next as the date for the case to be mentioned again
