CAPE TOWN - The driver’s license card machine may be back in operation after a recent breakdown, but the backlog is likely to take months to clear.
The Western Cape Transport Department wants Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula to extend the validity grace period beyond March.But what impact will not having a valid driver’s license have on an insurance claim should you be in an accident? Insurance companies say they won’t penalise drivers who don’t have a valid license if they can prove it’s not of their own doing.
