The FTC announced today they are seeking to block the Microsoft acquisition of ActivisionBlizzard. Activision BlizzardEntertainment

\n The organization sent out a press release this afternoon, which we have the bulk of it for you below, in which they are alleging Xbox would gain control of too many video game franchises and enable them to 'harm competition in high-performance gaming consoles and subscription services by denying or degrading rivals' access to its popular content.' In short, they're claiming being in control of titles like Call Of Duty and Diablo will give them an edge over other companies.

Microsoft decided to make several of Bethesda's titles, including Starfield and Redfall, Microsoft exclusives despite assurances it had given to European antitrust authorities that it had no incentive to withhold games from rival consoles. Microsoft's Xbox Series S and Series X are one of only two types of high-performance video game consoles.

So Sony can make games exclusive but Microsoft can’t? If the takeover doesn't work the first time, just unplug it and plug it back in. Usually does the trick.
