U.S. stocks open higher as Dow industrials attempt to book 10th day of gains

U.S. stock indexes opened higher on Friday with the Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, +0.23% aiming to stretch its winning streak to 10 sessions, while technology stocks are rebounding from the selloff on Thursday after disappointing earnings. The Dow industrials rose 70 points, or 0.2%, to 35,293, on track for its longest winning streak since August 2017, according to Dow Jones Market Data. The S&P 500 SPX, +0.

40% advanced 0.3% and the Nasdaq Composite COMP, +0.71% gained 0.7%. American Express Co. AXP, -4.01% stock fell 3.8% after the company said Friday that spending on its cards touched an all-time high in the second quarter as consumers continued to pay up for travel and entertainment experiences. Shares of Schlumberger N.V. SLB, -2.21% shed 1.3% after second-quarter revenue at the oil-field services company came in below expectations.
