Police seized two machetes and a pocket knife after a report of an incident near Old Market Square. Officers were called to Nottingham city centre at 1.40pm on Friday after a report of a masked group carrying weapons.
They arrested a 21-year-old man, and three boys, aged 14, 14, and 16, on suspicion of possessing a knife in a public place in nearby Albert Street. Cannabis, cash and a mobile phone were seized by officers, with the group also arrested on suspicion of possessing with intent to supply Class B drugs. Chief Inspector Iain Blackstock, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “There is absolutely no excuse for anyone to carry a machete, pocket knife, or other bladed weapons in public. We’d like to thank whoever reported seeing these weapons, as it allowed us to take quick action and ultimately take three knives off our streets.
“Four suspects have been arrested in connection with this incident, but our inquiries are still very much ongoing, so we’d ask anyone with any information to contact us. “This can be reported either to the police on 101, quoting incident 412 of 21 June 2024, or to Crimestoppers anonymously by calling 0800 555 111.”
