The recent downpours have not derailed the industry’s growth

When typhoons hit, it’s to be expected that various industries will feel the impact. Fortunately for the Philippine auto industry, it was able to somehow withstand the onslaught of Typhoon Carina and post slight growth last month despite the stormy weather.

According to the latest report from the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines and the Truck Manufacturers Association , the industry still posted a 0.6% month-on-month growth from June to July. There were a total of 265,610 units sold last month.Carlos Yulo receives brand-new Land Cruiser Prado from Toyota PHPHOTO BY Mitsubishi Motors Philippines

Looking further back, July 2024’s total beats that of July last year by 10.9%. This year, it was still commercial vehicles that made up most of the sales, accounting for 73% or 194,812 units of the total. Of course, it’s still Toyota Motor Philippines at the top with its year-to-date sales now up to 122,730, good for a 46.21% market share. Second is still Mitsubishi Motors Philippines with 50,599 vehicles sold, and third is Ford Philippines at 16,817 vehicles sold.

“New product launches, improved product offerings, good sales momentum, as well as supply availability helped neutralize the impact of Typhoon Carina, especially towards the latter part of July,” said CAMPI president Atty. Rommel Gutierrez. See Also Read Next Hyundai shows first photos of facelifted Custin minivan View other articles about:
