Construction firms fear the potential impact of a large-scale deportation operation on their already struggling workforce. Industry leaders warn that losing undocumented workers would exacerbate labor shortages and drive up housing costs for homeowners.

While some contractors dismiss the plan as political rhetoric, many say they can’t afford to lose more people from an aging, immigrant-dependent workforce still short of nearly 400,000 people.
