The African National Congress in KwaZulu-Natal has refuted claims that it is holding secret meetings with the uMkhonto weSizwe Party , in an attempt to drop the current Government of Provincial Unity .
After failing to win an outright majority in the province during the May general elections, the ANC was forced to form aThe ANC’s deputy chairperson in KZN, Nomagugu Simelane spoke to the media in Durban. “Are we leaving the GPU? Are we working with the MK? Definitely not! You will understand that it was the MKP was the first to issue a statement through the mouth of the founder’s daughter uDuduzile. She said they will never work with the ANC and they have made it a point that they do not work with us. Of course, they have made it a stance that they will never work with us. We are here and we are working with those who care for the interest of the people of KZN.
Meanwhile addressing speculation on the disbandment of the ANC’s Provincial Executive Council , the party’s KZN Secretary Bheki Mtolo says the PEC will abide by any decision taken by its national structures. “The National Executive Council of the ANC is the highest organ. It has an obligation to lead the organisation to its entirety for the whole five-year term. In its wisdom, the NEC can take any decision at any time regarding the functionality of its structures. What I can assure you is that those who are members of the ANC genuine and loyal, once the NEC decision has taken all members of the ANC in KZN and all structures will abide by the decision of the NEC.
