There's a whole bunch of confusion about certifying a company as cybersecure, which is becoming increasing relevant to both revenues and costs for automakers.

Tengler’s Paradox states, “If you aren’t worried about it, you probably should be. If you are worried about it, you probably need not be.” The lone exception to this is cybersecurity: corporations should be worried 24 x 7.in publicly disclosed cybersecurity incidents of “Massive” or “High” scale for automotive and a rise to 95% of all attacks being executed remotely .

“Assessments may be good for a point in time — maybe a product in time, maybe something in time,” says Larry Hilkene, a long-time, automotive product development executive who helped develop cybersecurity standards . “But cybersecurity is disproving a future negative. And how do you do that logically?” Hilkene explains it’s much like understanding the movie from a set of photographs over time. “It no different than a financial controls audit.
