PETALING JAYA: There should be a balance when regulating traditional medicine in order for Malaysia to take advantage of the global traditional and complementary medicine market, says Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly AhmadThe Health Minister said that the authorities and regulators should not be the stumbling block holding back researchers aiming to put their remedies on clinical trials before making them available to the masses.

"If we are too strict, we may be seen as being prohibitive but if we are too relaxed, safety and quality might be compromised," he told the media on the sidelines of the 9th International Conference on Traditional and Complementary Medicine 2019. He said that Malaysia has yet to catch up with the rest of the world despite stepping into the traditional medicine sector in 2002.
