A ruling that Katy Perry's hit 'Dark Horse' copied a Christian rap song has the music industry worried about an onslaught of infringement cases that claim some of the most popular songs are rip-offs

In deciding last week that Katy Perry’s 2013 hit “Dark Horse” copied an 11-year-old Christian rap song, a federal jury in Los Angeles contributed to what music executives worry is a growing trend: infringement cases that claim some of the industry’s most popular songs are rip-offs.

Ms. Perry and her collaborators must pay $2.8 million in damages, the jury found, a decision that has lawyers concerned about similar lawsuits and songwriters worried about stifled creativity.

It doesn’t resemble Perry’s song at all!!! WTF? But „stairway to heaven“ sure is copied.

You mean that they might have to do something *ORIGINAL*? The horror.....

Listen to “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart” by Backstreet Boys and then listen to “Smoke and Mirrors” by Demi Lovato. That’s way more similar than these

Wow, to be found guilty of copying a Christian rap song, your song must really suck.

Only true artists write their own songs, Katy's not one of them,, true artist don't steal, copy or sample songs 👎

Copying a Christian song for an illuminati prayer song ? Wow 😂

Stealing other artist's work is never ok. Dark Horse is clearly a copy of Joyful Noise. Pay the original artist!

Well, Dark Horse sounds like it was recorded on top of Joyful Noise track. Way too similar.

The music industry hasn't written anything original since the 60s. They have no creativity anymore. It's all the same junk.

La cola y las chichis.

Sue all thieves.

Katy Perry was found to have copied another's song. It was only a matter of time. Many pop songs use the same 3 beats, which means there can only be about 167 different songs. In other news, Jay Z announced his retirement. 🤣

Who cares when you have a talent, you can keep making music, same with paintings or any art get over!

Led Zepellin wrote the song....

It couldn't have happened to a more deserving person katyperry ... shes a hypocrite when it comes to the environment and carbon footprint ... pay up perry

That's because they are:
