Stocks in Asia were set to trade cautiously on Tuesday amid concerns over the state of U.S.-China trade negotiations as well as a recent escalation of violence in ongoing protests in Hong Kong.

Futures pointed to a cautious opening trading for Japanese stocks. The Nikkei futures contract in Chicago was at 23,350 and its counterpart in Osaka was at 23,350. That compared against the
