Japan, a market dominated by the likes of Toyota, Nissan, and Honda, will become a major test for BYD’s product design and engineering, as well as marketing efforts. It also becomes the third developed country BYD is targeting with its electrified vehicles following Norway and the Netherlands.
Last December, BYD began delivering the Tang EV SUV in Norway. Earlier this month, it signed up European car dealer Louwman Group to distribute electrified cars in the Netherlands. The Philippines, New Zealand, Singapore, Brazil, Costa Rica and Colombia are among the smaller markets where BYD also sells its EVs.
