The premiers for Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut led a panel on sovereignty and security in Canada’s North at a forum in Greenland

Canada’s territorial premiers stressed the need to invest in northern communities and include northerners in decision-making at an Arctic Circle gathering in Greenland that concluded earlier this week.

“To be able to take that parallel message on an international stage was extremely important as the Arctic Circle forum tries to kind of grapple with and understand where do we go from here post-pandemic?” Silver said. “The attention of Arctic security has really brought attention to the issues that we’ve long lived with,” Akeeagok said, noting the infrastructure gap between Canada’s North and South.

“The investments the federal government hasn’t made for having created that community, along with Resolute — it’s something that we all have to learn from.” “We cannot think in isolation. We do need to work together — not only the Arctic region of Canada but circumpolar,” she said.Akeeagok said he’s optimistic about relationships that were forged at the forum. He signed a memorandum of understanding with Greenland Prime Minister Mute B. Egede, recognizing their shared interest in culture and arts, education, travel and tourism, marine infrastructure, fisheries, and green energy.

The poster child of COVID induced brain damage. So sad. Whose going to drive your ambulances? You? I don't think the NDP government cares about the festering problems in places that don't vote for them. Look at how indifferent they are to other places, like Lytton BC. Still a ruin and nothing happening, only indifference.
