Almost 200 000 Zimbabwean Exemption Permit (ZEP) holders residing in South Africa have until December to apply for mainstream visas or else face expulsion from the country.

About 295 000 Zimbabweans applied for the Dispensation of Zimbabwean Permit .Imagine having spent more than a decade in a country, establishing roots, only having to return to your homeland from which you have fled many years before. This is the fate awaiting almost 200 000 Zimbabwean Exemption Permit holders residing in South Africa. They have until December to apply for mainstream visas or else face expulsion from the country.

What could have deterred these permit holders to apply for visas? Financial constraints and hard-to-meet criteria for alternative permits are possibly preventing many from applying and facing never being able to return to a country they have called home for many years. Each family member, including minor children, who reside in South Africa, must file an application, meaning costs are multiplied depending on the size of the familiesbattle axe to fight Home Affairs’ decision

In 2009, the South African government introduced a Dispensation of Zimbabwean Permit to legalise the many Zimbabweans already inside the country because of the political and socio-economic situation in Zimbabwe. Zimbabweans who until then had applied for asylum were encouraged to apply for a DZP.

For every one documented Zimbabwean, there are at least 3 or 4 undocumented. Do the math. That’s why South Africans are unemployed.

Something fishy

Ba creative kakhulu make bayoba ngamachule pha kowabo

Send every foreigner back 2 their country's!!.It's because of this corrupt a.n.c. government that they are here!!!!😠😠😠😠

Thank workers unions for this mess! They created a mentality of entitlement where workers want to dictate to employers. Zim workers are not like that. They are hard working people! That is the difference! Now SA want to 'fix' this through stupid laws!?

Mutch more than 200 000 i dont know who is doing the stats in this country butt obviously he/she went to the same school Zuma went too.Maths not there thing

The government dint chase anybody away, the way Zimbabweans are educated i dont see any problem, with the new criteria for them not qualifying.

Each and everyone of them must go back. And every sa citizens must be hired to reduce unemployment then they can let them in and only the documented ones 📄

The ANC government allowed them here and so they have built lives here. To not allow them to stay is a unfair and unjust.

People are employed because they have skills. Be it of here or there.

That fool motsoaledi is extending the zep till June next, I think it's time for communities to start acting.

What about the restaurants and businesses owners who employ undocumented workers. Why not penalize them?

Very good

It's time to go back home...that's too much I can't believe that we have 100 people in another country around the world

Seen this?

Dr Aaron is a good Samaritan 👍 He has extended it by a further 6 montgs✍✍✍ edmnangagwa has pulled the strings. Reminding the anc that they helped their struggle 🤪🤪🤪

The permits have been extended till June 2023 much to your chagrin

We need to start taking care of our own people

They must voetsek

Nonesense how can you deported peoples you can trace and leave those who don't knowthis one if he or her done wrong you can trace but what about the untraceable?

Why allow them to apply? If they are expelled about 200 000 more employment opportunities will be available for SA citizens

Say for instance 200,000 Zimbabweans was employed, it means 200.000 unemployed South Africans.

They must just go back home
