Labor should be supporting the gas industry in order to push down energy prices, says Sky News host Chris Kenny.

“The other way, of course, to help keep prices low is to stop pushing renewables so hard that gas generators can’t afford to lock in long-term, cheaper gas contracts,” he said.

Mr Kenny said the “soaring gas prices” are “feeding” into electricity prices, with policies having been “directed at pushing gas out”, resulting in the closing of gas generators.

Labor are supporting the gas industry. Labor will help the gas industry pay tax.

no. need to make the gas companies pay excess profits tax that will force prices down

Could always just cast your vote like the rest of us. It's a democracy

What a freaking joke! Same people who told us to sell all our utilities to public companies. Haven't these clowns played Monopoly?

True to form! The crap that emanate from Kenny !

Support my family holidays

They are greedy selfish criminals

How about your boss and his fossil fuel mates start paying tax. You got a free ride...now asking for more? No wonder the Murdoch party racked up $1 trillion in Gov debt. News Corp and fossil fuel giants top the list for not paying tax, ATO report shows

Who?

Kenny: 'Labor should be...' How about laying off telling an ELECTED government what they should and shouldn't do. Newsflash: The Murdoch party lost the election...spectacularly with many Blue Ribbon seat voters sick of Rupert's out of touch fossil fuel MP's speaking for them.

Australia being only 1% of global emissions should continue using our own coal/gas to produce low cost, reliable energy. The biggest contribution we could make to reducing global emissions is to scale back on coal exports to prolific emitters like China/India.

New name for liberal party .And hereby from today we will be know as the Robo Debt Killers Party. Sighed the liberal party.

How about gas, electricity, petrol, supermarkets, rental and air travel companies, etc ALL get capped? The greedy bastards who own these companies are STILL gonna make record profits; they'll just have to miss out on grinding the poor under their heels for a while.

Wait for the u turn when the polls start to go the other way

A precise strategy with pillars that address balance between all energy sources & uses is long overdue. As factors change so must strategy.

Is it not time that Australia and the US stop this war with the energy giants and cap prices to bring inflation down. Interest rates go up then energy prices go up and filter through to every aspect of economic and personal life. Rates seem futile... with energy unharnessed!
