Meanwhile, the race for Oakland's mayor is still up in the air. On Wall Street, two San Francisco retailers posted third quarter results on Thursday with opposite effects to their stock prices: dropped roughly 6%.

owner Elon Musk gave employees at the San Francisco tech giant an ultimatum to either commit to “working long hours at high intensity” or get out, so many have opted to take severance this week that it spurred the company to close its offices until Monday. The office closure came after more workers than expected decided to call it quits, causing confusion over who should still be allowed access to Twitter property.
