Owners of the five-star Napa Valley resort have been hit with liens and lawsuits.

the Four Seasons brand and Alcion Ventures, a Boston-based real estate private equity firm. A targeted 2019 opening was delayed by regional wildfires and later the Covid-19 pandemic.

The biggest claim comes from electrical subcontractor, Power Design Inc., based in St. Petersburg, Fla. It alleges in a lawsuit filed in Napa County Superior Court in July it is owed more than $2 million for unpaid work and breach of contract by the property owners. The lawsuit also names general contractor Suffolk Construction, Inc., which eventually replaced original general contractor DCK California Construction Inc. on the project.

“Our expectations are that this matter will be resolved justly and promptly as we continue to be a trusted partner to all parties involved,” the representative said via email. Sunstone added that the liens are not impacting day-to-day hotel operations. A representative of the Four Seasons hotel did not return a request for comment.
