Agricultural tech unicorn Plenty Unlimited Inc., which seeks to tap new produce growth efficiencies with its sprawling indoor vertical farms, plans to close one of its largest local farms in South San Francisco that's also served as the company's headquarters.

Plenty stated in recently filed state notices it plans to cease operations at 590 Ecles Ave. in January and begin group layoffs starting with 18 employees before full closure of its South San Francisco site in March 2023.
