The U.S. Department of Commerce is adding 36 Chinese high-tech companies, including makers of aviation equipment, chemicals and computer chips, to an export controls blacklist, citing concerns over national security, U.S. interests and human rights.

At the same time, the Biden administration has been moving to beef up American manufacturing capabilities for semiconductors and other advanced technologies.

It said Yangtze Memory Technologies and Hefei Core Storage Electronic Ltd. were included because they allegedly might act as suppliers to Huawei Technologies, the world's biggest maker of network equipment, and to Hangzhou Hikvision Digital Technology, another company subject to U.S. sanctions. Some of the companies were included in the list for being at “risk of diversion" to other companies on the entity list or are accused of illegally exporting U.S. electronics subject to export controls to Iran for military use.

Why not just build those businesses here and give Americans the jobs!

It's about time can anyone explain why they ever thought having China design chips for military equipment or airplanes was a good idea?

LOL. Meanwhile they left military hardware in Afghanistan for our enemies to study.

There goes the whole 'China owns Biden' argument. Cant wait to see what lies they invent next...

A bit late!

美国佬是真不要脸👋👋

I worked for Dell co. a looooong time ago. And this isn't really anything new. ...American computer technology has always been a major concern of falling into the wrong foreign-actors hands. ... That's why spying apps are a bigger national threat, than most tech 'junkies' admit.

I want to hear Joe himself say this out loud and then name off all companies on the blacklist in front of the entire country.

US setting up an unfair playing field by banning Chinese tech companies. Truth is that US tech companies are losing out to Chinese tech companies in many tech fields. Hence US desperation to sanction every Chinese tech company.

Computer chips are already hard to get.

GAME OVER

HERE WE GO AGAIN!! GIVING CHINA OUR BUSINESS INSTEAD OF GIVING IT TO OUR VERY OWN HARD WORKING AMERICANS

I remember when it was racist for trump to do that..
