The purpose of the review was to determine safety-critical compliance as stipulated in the National Road Traffic Act, the Occupational Health & Safety Act and SQAS-Africa audit requirements.
“Infinite Fleet Transport Ltd has been SQAS-Africa-approved for some time and Sasol South Africa conducted a SQAS-Africa re-certification audit on November 22 and 23 2022. The company was successful in this re-certification audit,” the report reads. On December 29 the driver's employer said an internal investigation showed he immediately alerted his superiors and emergency services, and tried to clear the crowd gathering around the vehicle.
Innovative Staffing Solutions said the driver mistakenly took a wrong exit to get onto the N17 highway and found himself on Hospital Road. “Following urgent investigations, Innovative Staffing Solutions can confirm the driver was not negligent and did everything in his power to alert people to the dangers of the situation. He demonstrated the utmost level of care and professionalism and we thank him for his conscientious actions, which potentially saved the lives of countless other people,” the company said.
the employer has to be responsible. in the Horizon Deepwater incident BP was responsible. why would this company cause so much damage and enjoy impunity?
Everything used to 'clear' all the people in the wrong just feels like mitigating circumstances. You can mess up and not kill 30 people. I'm not even saying let's throw them under the jail but being cleared without even having to answer for your deadly actions is not right
No wonder
What a cover up!
Let the courts be the arbiter on this matter n stop this back door nonsense
You want to tell me that the whole blasting is a rigged activity. And who is behind all this? I am curious to know that detail and all other details. I mean at the expense of souls, a company and its driver are cleared. We might be a murders country once.
Not surprised at all they protect their own. Stop being up in arms it was expected..
What a joke
A second opinion is needed on this matter. I saw the interview on the news yesterday.
THIS IS CLEAR NOW THAT THIS WAS A TERRORIST ATTACK BY OUR GOVERNMENT.....
How nice, this is South Africa
Did the review indicate how a tanker carrying dangerous cargo was allowed to illegally be driving through a residential area
It's a govt responsibility to investigate
Transheq s a private company with no legal authority to clear...
Would like to know the details of that investigation and the reasoning in clearing them
what a sick joke !
Surely these tankers have GPS on board? To set suitable routs and track driver compliance? How could a driver mistakenly take a wrong exit if this is so? Infinity Transport still has questions to answer.
It was an act of terror.

Must be nice to be a Caucasian Lol..SA alive with possibilities, so we must blame the civillians and healthworkers RamaphosaMustGo Auditor may not stand scrutiny in a court of law. 3 things for me - Change management - the change in the route created an unknown risk which needed to be managed; best practise in terms of tracking the driver and emergency response - Decisive response would have saved lives...
