Technology has brought wonders: desktop publishing, spreadsheets, automated check deposit, social networks and speech bots. Many jobs became obsolete. And now ChatGPT spits out humanlike prose. Google’s Bard promises the same. So why are productivity statistics so underwhelming?

opinion andykessler In addition to wage discrepancy, employees are rarely rewarded for their performance. I’ve seen superstars bring in an extra $5 to $10 million a year and get $10k bonuses. They quit and start their own biz. pizzapartiessuck

opinion andykessler I don’t know, maybe productivity is low because wage increase is so far from inflation that people feel financially hopeless? Maybe people are demotivated because they know that no matter how hard they work, chances are, the bills are still going to be a struggle? Just a thought.

opinion andykessler At my job everyone gets hired sees how stressful it is realizes they can't pay thier bills and leaves. We lost 15 to 20 employees last year. One girl quit the day she started going hands on 🤣🤣🤣🤣
