It is not traditionally the most environmentally friendly industry but some firms are changing that.

The beauty industry may not have been the most environmentally friendly in the past, but some Scottish firms are attempting to change that.

At her Wishaw HQ she shows me empty beauty product containers which once held things like oils and moisturisers. The company worked through the logistical challenges of getting their own reusable packaging up and running which in turn has led to them working with much bigger companies including Unilever."What we've done is look to the past but we've made it contemporary," she says."It means that when we get it back here for cleaning we know which cleaning protocol it needs to go through.

I am convinced that the fashion industry is one of the worst culprits for carbon footprint because of how many models that are jumping on a plane to here, there and everywhere. And for what? To wear something? I’m sure the companies can find a local model for that! It's not. It's all PR guff. The great 'eco' scam rolls on.
