Nvidia, Intel stocks fall as Taiwan Semi’s disappointing earnings report helps trigger broad chip-sector selloff

The semiconductor sector was suffering a broad selloff in Thursday’s premarket, in the wake of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. Ltd.’s earnings report, which disappointed investors. All 28 components of the PHLX Semiconductor Index SOX that have traded before the open lost ground, with Taiwan Semi’s stock among the bigger losers as it shed 3.1%. Intel Corp.’s stock INTC dropped 1.7% to lead the Dow Jones Industrial Average’s DJIA premarket losers.
