insisted that it was not backing away from promises to toughen up protections for casual workers, and said it still planned to bring forward new laws within 100 days of taking office.
Unite, the largest union backer of Labour, said on Friday it was “evident” there had been a “clear rowing back on the New Deal for Working People document” since then. Left wing campaign group Momentum also warned the party against putting businesses bosses over workers. Sources said the position agreed at the forum had not been changed. The party has pledged to create a single status of worker to ensure protections for casual workers as well as the full-time employed.
