Blackpool's new trendy street food hall is a step closer to opening its new shopping locations. It comes after Abingdon Street Market took over the former traditional indoor market hall site.
It traded as a traditional indoor market for more than a century, but now local independent food vendors, a coffee shop and two bars have transformed the vast space, which has capacity seating for 250. The food hall side of the market opened in May and soon people will be able to browse the retail side.
Cllr Mark Smith, Cabinet Member for Levelling Up , Blackpool Council, said: “We’re delighted that Abingdon Street Market is forging ahead and opening the retail part of the market. Since their initial opening in May it has proven to be very popular and goes to show that quality venues like this were needed and wanted in Blackpool.
“We have been fortunate to receive funding for some of this redevelopment work and I’m pleased to be able to say the project so far has created over 40 jobs for local people in the first phase alone. We encourage everyone to head down and take a look at the new market units once open.”
