KINGSTON, N.S. — Sarah Naesmyth and Lauren Avery had a dream of creating a vibrant market where friendships could be forged and people supported their local farmers.“To see that actually coming to life was extremely rewarding,” Avery said. “I felt so proud and thankful of the community – proud of people coming out and really supporting the local producers.”
“I think that the market brings a little bit of pizzaz,” Avery said. “It’s something cool for people to come to.” “We get one chance to make a first impression in this community,” Naesmyth said. “We had a super clear vision and we didn’t want to lose sight of that.” Naesmyth and Avery spoke passionately about their vendor family and volunteer family, which make the market the success it is.It has a group of between 20 and 25 volunteers that do everything from setting up tents and laying out the market to building backdrops and organizing decorations.
